The Future is right on track
The history of the Port of St. John’s is first and foremost the history of our province’s people. More than five centuries ago, it was the early explorers who defined the port, sailing through The Narrows to seek shelter from the North Atlantic and to land the riches they had discovered just offshore. At the turn of the millennium, it was private enterprise and industry partners who helped us inaugurate a new phase of renewal: aggressively transforming the Port of St. John’s into the ultimate 21st century service centre. Now as we look forward to the future, it is once more the port users who are at the centre of all the action.
The St. John’s Port Authority, as an autonomous Federal Crown agency, is mandated to act on behalf of its stakeholders, and the decisions we make every day are driven by the demands of industry and by the economic needs of our province. We are committed to addressing the emerging needs of port users to investing in the facilities, linkages and services required by those involved in transportation and industry worldwide and to being pro-active in responding to market needs.
