Job Posting: Manager, Marine
Operations and Security posted: 14 November 2006 This position is responsible for the management of marine activity within the Port of St. John’s, as well as for all aspects of security and emergency planning at Port Authority facilities. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the incumbent will work closely with vessel owners, agents and terminal operators, as well as governmental and other entities who play a vital role in the operation of the port. Interpreting and applying appropriate legislation, regulations and policies; providing advice in areas of expertise; and overseeing the preparation of statistical and operational reports are requirements of the position. The ideal candidate will have diversified experience in a marine environment, including experience at a responsible level on an ocean-going vessel and will have received specialized training in security and emergency planning. Knowledge of port operations would be a definite asset. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and computer skills are necessary attributes of the position. A security clearance will be required. This position will be of interest to highly-motivated team players currently earning in the vicinity of $60,000 per annum.
